About Our Workshops

Full Day Workshops

6 hours in length plus one hour lunch, 2 short breaks
Minimum of 12 participants, maximum of 25 participants

 

Training covers:

  • Impact of affirmation and  self-determination
  • Common words to express sexual orientation, gender identity & gender expression in Canada
  • Information about sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected grounds in provincial and federal human rights legislation
  • Sector-specific challenges and best practices for providing inclusive and affirming services;
  • Interpersonal, institutional and systemic discrimination
  • Impacts of racism, classism, cissexism and other systems of oppression
  • Action planning and strategies for implementation of learning

Half-Day Workshops

3 hours in length with one break
Minimum of 12 participants, maximum of 25 participants

Glitterbug

The 519’s Glitterbug is an initiative of The 519’s EarlyON Child and Family Centre. It a unique mobile program that works with EarlyON centres across Toronto to promote inclusion and affirmation of gender and sexual diversity in children and families.

Glitterbug combines the understanding of LGBTQ2S inclusion with teaching frameworks for children and families to develop a broader understanding of inclusion at EarlyON centres across the city.
